With over 15 years of experience in the production and sales of ground anchoring and mining support products, we operate our own rock bolt and accessory manufacturing facility with stable large-scale production capacity. We are specialists in rock bolts, resin cartridges, anchor cables, bearing plates, and customized ground anchoring products for mining support and geotechnical anchoring solutions.

The request for "tunnel project anchor rods" has left several unresolved issues for the supplier. What type of bolt system has been specified? Does the quantity include individual steel bars or complete components? Do you need to deliver at ports, warehouses, or construction sites in the United States?

A useful inquiry or RFQ provides anchor bolt suppliers with sufficient information to price the same scope and identify any content they cannot confirm. For contractors, this also makes it easier to compare technical differences, missing parts, and delivery assumptions before placing an order.

Prepare your inquiry using the following checklist. The product selection and acceptance criteria should come from the design and approval process of the project; RFQ records these requirements and requests suppliers to respond to them.

Define the project and quotation purpose

Firstly, please indicate whether you require budget pricing, bidding quotation, or planned procurement quotation. Including the required response date, as well as known expected order and delivery dates.

Clearly describe the application: tunnel excavation support, vertical shaft engineering, repair, or other defined underground tasks. Determine whether the inquiry involves rock reinforcement bolts or other products, such as tunnel section connection bolts.

Please attach relevant drawings, material lists, and specification sections. Give each document a revision number and date. If the size or quantity is preliminary, please mark it as temporary instead of letting the supplier consider it final.

For US projects, please provide specified units or clearly indicate whether each dimension is measured in inches, feet, millimeters, or meters. Simultaneously specify the units of load and quantity.

Include these details in your anchor rod inquiry form

Use separate line items for each product or component. Avoid combining different lengths, finishes, or accessories into one quantity.

RFQ itemInformation to provideWhat to ask the supplier to confirm
Product identificationSpecified bolt family, model or drawing referenceThe exact proposed product and any deviation
Dimensions and interfacesLength, diameter, thread details and tolerances shown in the project documentsDimensional compliance and required clarification
Performance requirementsRequired properties, acceptance criteria and referenced test methodsWhich product data or reports support the proposal
Finish and protectionSpecified coating, corrosion protection or other treatmentThe proposed treatment and its documentation
ComponentsBars, couplers, drill bits, nuts, plates or other items required by the designWhat is included, excluded or priced separately
QuantitiesNumber of bars, assemblies and individual accessories by line itemPricing unit, package quantities and minimum order requirements
DocumentationRequired drawings, certificates, inspection records and test reportsWhat is available, when it will be supplied and which products it covers
DeliveryNamed destination, required arrival date and any staged deliveriesManufacturing, dispatch and transport assumptions
Commercial termsRequested currency, delivery basis and quotation validityPayment terms, exclusions and separately charged items

If the project specifies a standard, please include its exact name and version. Request evidence covering the proposed product and scope. General company certificates should not be considered as a substitute for product specific records required for the project.

3. Confirm the bolt system and its matching components

When contacting anchor rod suppliers for tunnel excavation, use the terminology in the project documents and describe the expected installation method. Merely relying on the product name may not solve important details.

For self drilling anchor systems, determine the required rods, drill bits, couplings, and other designated components. Inquire whether the quotation covers all required components and which interfaces need to be checked with the installation equipment.

For hollow anchor rods, clarify whether self drilling devices or pre drilled holes are required for this project. Confirm whether the designated product is used for drilling and maintaining its original position, or inserted after drilling; It should not be assumed that the hollow rod performs both tasks simultaneously.

For mechanical, frictional, or expandable anchor rods, please request proposed installation instructions and relevant equipment requirements. Do not assume that similar names have established compatibility with existing equipment on site.

If the inquiry includes prestressed components, please list them separately. Query the detailed information of the rod and connection that needs to be matched for threaded rod couplings. The steel strand anchoring query requires the specified steel strand and anchoring arrangement. Request confirmation of the actual component combination, rather than treating couplings, wedges, and anchor heads as interchangeable accessories.

4. Clearly define the evidence required for the review

Inform the supplier of which documents are required in the quotation and which documents will be needed for material review or delivery in the future.

According to project requirements, the list may include:

  • Product drawings and component lists.
  • Material qualification certificate and dimensional inspection records.
  • Product or assembly testing reports related to the proposed configuration.
  • Installation instructions and device interface information.
  • Product identification, packaging, and traceability information.

Require suppliers to determine the models, sizes, and components covered in each report. Individual material characteristics, component testing results, and evidence related to installed components; They answer different review questions.

If the supplier proposes an alternative solution, please request a separate description and a list of differences from the specified project. Maintain the recognizability of designated and alternative solutions so that the project team can review them through appropriate processes.

5. Separate manufacturing, transportation, and on-site delivery

Suppliers serving the US market can ship from outside the United States. Record the manufacturing location, shipping location, and delivery destination separately.

What is included in the quoted delivery cycle. Does it only cover production, or does it also cover inspection, packaging, and transportation? What information or approvals must be received before the deadline begins?

For planned delivery, please provide the quantity and required date for each batch of goods. Request confirmation of packaging, unloading information, and any on-site delivery restrictions that the supplier needs to specify.

Include any project specific manufacturing origin requirements in the inquiry form and require suppliers to specify the actual origin of the proposed goods. The address or search results for 'United States' are not sufficient to prove the production source or local inventory.

6. Comparison of quotations within the same scope

Before comparing unit prices, please check if each quotation covers the same products, quantities, accessories, documents, and delivery points.

Prepare a comparison table with the following titles:

Designated projectRecommended projectComponents includedExceptionsAvailable filesDelivery basisDelivery cyclePrice

The lower bar price may not include couplers, plates, testing, or transportation included in another quotation. Keep these differences visible, rather than treating the total as directly comparable.

Resolve unresolved technical issues before confirming the scope of procurement. Ensure that the final order specifies exceptions to the agreed upon drawings, revisions, quantities, components, and records.
